Ha. I shouldn't take that as any guarantee! My coordination is shocking - I long ago gave up playing any sports involving a ball - yet I'm reasonably proficient on a horse, and compete (successfully) at the top national level of my chosen horse-sport.

We were told last week that they are only issuing 5 passports at a time due to production problems! Puts pressure on not to make mistakes when you're on the last one in the box

Even I've got a stamp with all those details, then write the SP number and sign in the whatever space remains.

You laminate the box where you are putting details of rabies vaccine (you can use the sticker from the vial).

Thanks God I've read this... coming back from holidays I've done two wrong due to the different position of the lamination. Now I've realized my mistake and reissued correct passports.

Pretty good at surgery too so not sure the ability to stick a bit of plastic down has much to do with anything. My boss has the biggest issues with it and gets us to peel it off and stick it down for him as always manages to stick one bit to another or tear the plastic. He's also a pretty accomplished surgeon. Irrelevant I think.

So just an update on this exciting topic, and to clarify things after my confusion the other day - there are definitely 2 different types of "new" passport. The 1st type doesn't need any pages tearing out, and like Nikki says you just peel off the paper and stick it down. The 2nd type (which I'm currently using) does need the whole sticky-back plastic/cardboard page tearing out, peeling apart & sticking down on page 6. Otherwise it will laminate the wrong page. Hopefully reading this might help avoid other people getting confused. Good old DEFRA!

Also to answer the pen question - I use blue, but had been using black for a few years without any problems! Stamp is in red.

I haven't had to tear any out completely. I just peel off the paper and stick the sticky bit down to page 6. It's hard enough aligning it like that without tearing it out completely.

This was ambiguous as it could be take the whole thing should be in colour, however ET 139 now states just the signature and stamp should be in colour. Old habits die hard so I still do it all with a blue pen (plus a blue stamp) then there is no issue, its no harder to pick up a coloured pen than a black one after all.

I always fill them in in blue and we have a red stamp pad for the ST stamp. I only got 5 passports last time despite getting 10 the time before. And we used 4 in the space of a week!

I've been going on the ET 139 which does not mention colour of pen except in regard to signature and stamp. I have never seen or heard of the EH141 (which looks like a powerpoint presenation) until yesterday when I found out I have been using the wrong colour pen forever. Waiting to see if MAFF/DEFRA/animals and plants want me to recall all the passports I have filled in to do again. There wouldn't be enough passports to do it!

Is anyone else still having probs with DEFRA sending a decent number of passports at one time?

[/quote]It is designed to be torn out and the lamination sheet peeled off. Admittedly I didn't get my first supply until February but they've all been the same - the sticky backed plastic has been facing page 7 which might be confusing if I hadn't read the guide.

So the whole thing tears out? Haven't had to do that with any of them so far - just been peeling off the cardboard & the plastic sticks straight down onto page 6, perfectly lined up of course. These are the other way round. If it tears out then fine, I'll have a look tomorrow, but I wasn't about to start ripping the passports to pieces this evening to find out.

Clearly the production of these things is not exactly consistent!

Blue Ink for writing, red for OV stamp and the square one. I plan to alternate stamp colours for aesthetic reasons only. Have a very nice purple stamp pad!

A well designed form does not require pages of explanatory notes. The PETS passport is very poor and requires more pages of notes than it actually contains. EH141 is probably the notes they emailed OV's.

The insert with the lamination sheet is between pages 6 & 7, Tear it out along the perforations, peel off the sticky backed plastic and adhere to page 6. What's different about that?
