I fixed the file size on insert media yesterday. Smileys all work from drop down menu. Not all yet work automatically, but there's a fix coming for that shortly.

Incidentally, your post with the :D reminded me that I hadn't written the forum help section on smileys and checked the configuration (I expect you were thinking that :D is a standard smiley, and I was expecting a bollocking for not configuring things that way).

It includes the forum rules and an explanation of some (most of the new features).

Frustratingly, I discovered that the software that automatically recognises and converts text to smileys is doing it in the wiki section too. So the shortcuts that are working have converted to a smiley, thereby hiding the shortcut, which rather defeats the object of the exercise.

I'm going to have to replace the shortcuts with images of the correct text. Also, it seems some of the shortcuts aren't working, so I need to confer with techies about that.

My Account > Edit My Profile > Notifications tab

If you find it intrusive, you can set it to notify you of less things, perhaps just when someone follows you, for example (there's a much bigger alert when you get a private message, so not sure if needed for that).

I had to go and double check this one.

The original poster gets a message adjacent to all posts in a question thread which says 'did this answer your question'.

From memory, on the old site, anyone could mark a reply as a question answer.

I'm not sure (yet), if the new system can allow people to suggest a post as an answer.

Either way, this will mean that I need to highlight how important it is that people who start question threads mark them as answered when they are.

At the moment, I'm about 3/4 of the way through manually updating each of 187 jobs http://www.vetsurgeon.org/jobs/, so that they are indexed properly and display the right map, which has so far taken the best part of a day. Ha-Bloody-Birthday to me, eh!

I just cleared all my caches in all browsers, and cleared 'saved forms' and stuff. Restarted browsers and mine is all working fine now. I also cleared a cache on an external service we use to speed up the website, which shouldn't have made any difference because I'd switched it off while we upgraded, but you never know.

Both Chrome and Firefox seem to be going through some odd updates. They normally seem to update routinely but recently Firefox has informed me i am using an out of date version and Chrome no longer seems to think some plug ins are secure!

Working with Chrome now so it looks as if the problems are being sorted!

Hmm - I would have suggested all the things you have already done (I had to clear my own cache to get the text entry thing working properly in Chrome)

Are you seeing the red 'post' button, but nothing happens when you press it?

Actually, it sounds like the text editor is not loading correctly on that machine for some reason.

I have spoken to techies and they can't replicate on their machine. Suspect it is a cache issue (not necessarily on your machine). Can you PM me the version of the browser you are using and the type of computer (mac or pc). Can you try it in another browser on the same computer? I'm still experiencing a few foibles with the text editor myself, and suspect the issues might be related.

All seems to be working okay at my end, and I like the new look but have noticed that my computer no longer remembers that I've unchecked the 'Remember Me' box on the login page like it used to, I assume this was done using a cookie.

I'm still configuring everything, but one of the things I hope you'll particularly like is the quicker navigation to specialist areas of interest. Quick links top right take you to 'small animal' forums, from where you can narrow down to specific disciplines, such as cardiology :)
