No it is not. I believe John is a very knowledgeable person and has provided a lot of vets with important advice over many years. Posting on here as a discussion is not the right place for what is primarily a commercial link IMO.

He charges for his advice and the link is to his commercial site. Technically without Arlos permission this is spam.

Perhaps the difference is that they rarely start threads or insert links, they contribute to existing threads honestly and if anything are depriving themselves of work.

He would be a valued contributor to many of the generic advisory sort of threads.

He must be classed as a dinosaur by now so would probably support me......

He's been in practice, and seen it all from all angles.

Why don't you just contribute, John, a lot of referral vets do and that is self-promotion too isn't it?

You can even put your promotion blurb on the bottom of the post, as others do.

John has been active within the profession for many years and knows his stuff. I have to say these posts are really (semi) commercial so the general forum does not strike me as the best place for them!

They are an advertisement so should be helping to fund the site!

Other forums would consider them to be spam!
