Is it just me, or are the requirements put on OVs by the English delivery partners somewhat over the top? Plus I could hold my scissors in calipers in one hand/ put them in my belt rather than having to clip, turn round, put clippers down safely, get callipers, turn round again... just seemed to slow down the process rather than speeding it up. Only used clippers for frisians in summercoat whose fur was too short for scissors to make any impact.

Re: TB testing procedures manual

clipping, i assume you are using a sissors, you are getting away lightly, here where i am they want us to buy 300 pound clippers to shave them , and each shaved patch must be greater than 1 square inch .i joke you not. imagine doing that on a beef herd, the buzzing from clippers would drive them crazy . i feel like bringing shaving foam and a gillette razor to my next inspection.

Sorry to be so cynical, but seen it before with meat inspection/Meat Hygiene Service. Started with a big manual, then two, then contracts were 're-negotiated' downwards.

DEFRA love this sort of thing because it shows a lot of box ticking and auditing. Proves accountability and that you are using the correct number of needles!

Get used to it or prepare to get out!

(cynical smiley!)
