If nothing changed since last time I've contacted DVLA is 70 years or 3 years after the date you move to uk whatever comes later. Sorry for the OT.

I would advise using a broker, might pay slightly more but my experience is they are, they know the policies.

I would absolutely not use price compsrison sites , business / commercial use , particularly with multiple drivers can get very complex, not worth the risk of saving a few quid on the cover.

I don't even bother getting my insurance out of the file , I just call the brokers, they give me all details over phone , sometimes even call the insurance company for me. They will also negotiate on my behalf. I woukd rather pay more.

Lloyd and whyte in taunton are our brokers for practice insurance, we dont use them for vehicles only because have other family businesses with another broker but they will provide the same service. Can recommend.

Personally (for my own private car) I use Directline, because they were the only ones that didn't make a difference for not having a UK licence. It's rather ridiculous that insurances make a difference anyway as all someone like me with a EU license has to do is to send £50 to Swansea to change it into a UK license, doesn't say anything about driving abilities. And there is no legal reason to change it before turning 65(?). I am thinking of maybe changing mine now to get cheaper insurance though.

Incidentally using the title 'Dr' on an insurance quote request seems to result in lower premiums...according to a friend.
