Unbelievable that farms like the one in Fivemiletown can be legal. I can understand how people don't think anything of it when buying a dog of the dealer in Hamilton, the house as well as the dealer couple look very well presented

Re: BBC report about puppy farming

legal does not necessarily equate to morally right!

The rules are there to prevent the worst excesses but someone will always find an industrial (and cheaper) way to do things without actually breaking the law.

I have not seen the programme yet as it was on BBC NI and BBC Scotland. It should be on iplayer by now!

Until the authorities decide to get on top of this, it will continue. A fairly local Dorset 'rescue' has got into hot water by doing a similar thing. Sadly there is a veterinary practice at the more budget end of the market that seems happy to be complicit in this industrial supply of pets.

Re: BBC report about puppy farming

Total agreement. Unfortunately, until we have a legal system that isn't a toothless tiger, and police prepared to fulfill their statutory duty of prosecuting all crime, not leaving animal crime to the RSPCA (or whatever it's equivalent is in Ulster) then nothing will be done.
