From what I expected having read previous threads on this I thought it would be a nightmare, it is in reality easy peasy, albeit it may not be the best thought-out design.

However I do confess a lack of perfection by my own standards by cocking up my first 3 attempts but that was just writing things in incorrectly because I'm probably stupid.

Re: Pet Passports

From AHVLA website

Date of Microchipping

This should be entered on the basis of veterinary records or a record/certificate of implantation. The information may also be available by contacting/accessing one of the animal pet identification databases to which microchip manufacturers subscribe. The entry should be in the format dd/mm/yyyy. This section must not be left blank. Do not enter ‘not known’. In cases where a microchip has been implanted and can be read but the exact date of microchipping cannot be established, enter the date of the reading. This cannot postdate any vaccination or treatment.

I hope this resolves your doubts.

Also looks like mission impossible to travel freely to Montenegro, requiring PP for travel through EU then import and export certification, health checks and more regular rabies to get in to the country. My client has 2 dogs and a holiday place there and has just down graded to a bolt hole here so I am guessing she may not be anticipating it being so involved. Still unsure on how you enter section 3, no 2 regarding application or reading of transponder. Plant and Animal seem to suggest you do not use the ' before' wording given in the VDS guidelines. And I know I am being thick but do we always delete to leave ' date of application'. When would the read bit ever be relevant??

When stating day 21 (and vaccine date is day zero) is it actually day 22 ie do you put the valid from date as day 22 for travel?
Yes.
Section iii, q2 ref deleting: I can't see when you would purely read the transponder as if you haven't placed it yourself you use the 'Before...' wording regarding date of application so assumably you're filling in date of application
If you haven't witnessed when the microchip was implanted you can put any time before the rabies vaccination so far as you're sure it was there at the time reported. Essentialy if you have a note on your computer system say that on 6th feb 2013 the dog was presented to you for the first time and you have scanned him you can put that date in the space, the 'before' wording is not required but is more accurate.
And finally, being a muppet, are all pages laminated for vaccines? Not filled a new one out yet but it looks to me that pages 9 & 11, say, aren't.
No there's a full laminated page that is for the page with the details, the other ones are for the vaccines.
PS does anyone know if Montenegro is an unlisted country so requires blood tests??
I'm not sure, I would say not but for safety ring AHVLA and ask them.

Re: Pet Passports

For what its worth here's my take on things:

I put the date of validity 21 days after the vaccine date and date of expiry one day less than 3 years so if for example I vaccinate on the 2nd then date of validity is 23rd and the date of expiry the 1st three years later. If it said 504 hours (which to save you working it out is 21 x 24) then you could be more pedantic.

Not quite sure how you're' looking at this but so long as the date you mark as having read the transponder is the same as or before the date of vaccination it makes no difference because you've still got to read it again even if you know you implanted it.

Clinical examination is only applicable if the exporter or country of destination requires it and the client requests it. 'Legislation' is just future proofing it.

All you laminate is the vaccine sticker so there are plenty of laminating strips for all possible entries. And the answer to a question you didn't ask which has posed a problem for some: the laminating sheet between pages 6 & 7 goes over page 6.

Montenegro is not in the EU so I would double check the blood test thing but I doubt its required any more than Switzerland.
