You might point out that making the concentration too great can actually reduce the disinfectant efficacy of some disinfectants.

Re: Anigene/Trigene alternatives?

I would double and triple check the dilutions being used, if people are coughing. in my experience it is ALWAYS down to over-generous mixing by someone who thinks it must work better that way.

Many of the liquid based disinfectants sold to Veterinary practices in the UK share the same basic chemistry (QAC) however some of the formulations have changed to comply with the Biocide Regulations 528/2012.
If practices are experiencing issues then they should consider the use of Virkon which is an oxidising chemistry based product. It is always advisable to consult the MSDS information sheet regarding the use of disinfectant in a Veterinary practice. Virkon is available through your wholesaler or JAK.

[/quote]

Virkon in powdered form is pretty unpleasant to deal with and is unpopular with our staff, we have the tablets and they are a bit better. Once diluted it is OK but the lack of convincing colour makes it unpopular. Dating the diluted product so it can be thrown out after 5 days is another hassle.

When Trigene went off the market we switched to Anigene and I started getting really bad skin irritation - so bad my hands were bleeding. I didn't link it with the Anigene initially because I just thought it was a change of name but the same product, but some time later I realised that Anigene contains chlorhexidene to which I react really badly in even tiny quantities. It also has detergents as far as I can remember which would probably exacerbate things. We switched to Anistel and the my skin problems resolved.
