Who could forget - happy days.

The team was a tad shorter than the Globetrotters if memory serves though, and distinctly less agile. Or hip. And I believe they were from Harwich, not Harlem.

Come to think of it they weren't that good. I heard they were just in it for the orange segments at half time - scurvy can be a terrible affliction.

Still, happy days though.

I'm pretty sure the recent 2008 'environmental perogative' rule changes allow an easy hop any distance within Boris's cycling distance (assuming no headwind on the date in question), so I'll go for South Acton.

Some of us were mere whippersnappers in 1987 and certainly not of the required age for participation as set out in the Hertzinger Pamphlet ("participants shall have attained their 22nd birthday (calculated using the Zaonu lunar calendar) before being admitted to the wait list for club membership. All applications must be counter-signed by the great-grandfather of a current club member. No-one shall be allowed to witness a game in progress nor participate in such without being a member of a recognised club. All applicants will be considered for inclusion at a bi-annual meeting of the governing council in full, excepting members found to be deceased at the commencement of the year in question. Successful applicants will be notified in person no more than 6 years from the date of the council meeting").

Anyway, I'm sure that none of you should need reminding of the details of that particular rule, as it is one of the founding tenets of the whole institution.

Oh, dash my wig and whiskers, you're right. What an amateurish mistake i've made - i won't be able to show my face at the Club for at least a fortnight! The traditional Penance move in this case is Tottenham Court, as I recall.

It's generally accepted that the Cromwell Variation expired when old Oliver himself expired; sources range from 11:38pm to 2:24 AM, BST (clocks don't change until October.) However the Midnight Expiration is certainly accepted in some specialist tournaments, so i'm inclined to allow Regents Park - any objections?
