Also think it's odd that the valid from date for the vaccine according to the pets travel scheme is 21days post vaccine, even when our Rabies vaccine says the vaccine doesn't confer immunity til 1 month later!

My new, shiny, red inked stamp has just arrived (ordered from ebay!). I am sure we had an advisory note telling us not to use our OV number on unofficial stamps! That must have been superseded.

Have a couple to fill out, having done the injections. Still think its a rubbish design!

I would like to join in the debate on the design of the new passports but sadly can't comment as I have still haven't received any yet. Perhaps I'll have to pretend I have an urgent case.

Sounds like you were lucky not to get locked up!

I did go on a booze cruise many years ago with two bottles of tincture of opium but that was to France! Thankfully was not stopped!

Can sniffer dogs detect obscene material?

My car was sniffed over by two different sniffer dogs, i had to get out and take everything out for them to even look under the dog kennel ("That's the engine officer", "Oh, yeah right"), I was told "Don't you know that you cannot bring in any forbidden substances like controlled drugs, weapons and obscene material, don't you have cigarettes or alcohol", "No sorry nothing of the kind". "Why did you go to Amsterdam for one night? Is this your car, can you proof it?". It was on the tip of my tongue - when they finally let me go having found nothing but a chunk of cheese and a diet coke- "My most dangerous forbidden substance is this here doggy, shouldn't you have checked its chip and [passport?". But my proof of property of the car was weak and dubious and I thought the better of it.

And yes, the vaccination box is a joke, I have written and signed over our practice stamp and written the sp number vertically.

I wonder if it's to make the passport layout consistent across Europe, the old style passports from other EU countries had boxes this size. Might have been a better idea to make theirs bigger rather than ours smaller though

Why on earth did they not release a draft copy to the profession? This would have been sorted in days, free of charge!

It is another crap design. The old one was poor, this one is even worse. A good design is self-explanatory.

When are the powers that be going to realise they are dealing with a bright and generally helpful profession?

Come to think of it, if I put my signature in that box there won't be room for anything else at all. Maybe I should sign it in red and overwrite my name and address and SP number in green?

I noticed this too, maybe it's because you don't actually need to be an OV (or equivalent) in all countries in order to give a rabies vacc & sign the passport, e.g. Ireland (AFAIK)

I find this box weird too - mainly because it's so small and I have to write teeny tiny to fit everything in!!! Surely if they wanted all our info then our SP number could just used to look up our address etc?
