Agreed absolutely - we got a set (well... two!) of these in a year or so back and it's no exaggeration to sat they've transformed our surgical setup. You can adjust the intensity from mega-bright (for close-up work with magnification) to general illumination; they're light-weight, cool, easy to move around and with very few problems with shadows. The central handle can be autoclaved and gives a scrubbed surgeon the ability to move the light and to adjust the intensity via a twist-grip.

Go for it. I wish I'd done it years ago when we too were suffering heavy, dim, temperamental lights with bulbs that were costing around £28.00 a pop and then only lasting five minutes.

Cheers,

Very bright, very 'daylight'. No rewiring required, just replace the starter with the dummy one supplied and plug the new tube in.

Nearly £50 a pop but really good light. Use a fraction as much electricity and have a 20 year expected lifespan. Fed up with constantly flickering lights as old tubes give up the ghost.

Changing over steadily as it takes a bit of getting used to the different light.

4 ordinary fluorescent strips set in a square over the table. No natter where you/nurse put your heads, there's always at least 2 unobstructed lights shining on the patient.

good suggestion but need something focusable for intrathoracic / deep abdominal etc.

Re: Any recomendations for new op light?

4 ordinary fluorescent strips set in a square over the table.
