In UK they are supposedly really open to new grads, and there are lots of large clinics that have many experienced vets that would love to have someone to

Re: Getting a job as a new grad..

Presuming that you have been looking for a job and not working at all over the past six months, I wish you had spent this time working in some practice on a voluntary basis. You would have gained the required experience and possibly a gainful employment.

It is never too late to consider this option and you will certainly find many practices ready to take you on board and soon you will prove to them and others that you are a capable and enthusiastic young vet worthy of a well paid job.

Good luck with your endeavours.

Re: Getting a job as a new grad..

hi Stigen,

Its the same for experianced vets, i am finding it difficult to get a permenant position in a private multivet clinic , what i think seems to be happening is that these so called veterinary groups that own several 10 to 30 vet clinics tend to operate 1 vet clinics ie sole charge, cos they want to keep costs down and maximise profit , this leads to a poor service, and high turnover of staff, so they need people with experiance to run and manage them and pay them poorly, lucky for them with the influx of cheap eastern europeans experianced vets thay have a good source of vets and by god do they work you hard.they are everywhere in uk ie the clinics. hopefully this craze will eventually stop.
