I stopped the I-stat when the ACT got to 460 seconds (ref range I have is 90-130). Noticeably worse over the last couple of hours so I've collected some blood from another

Re: Who else is working over the festive period?

Thanks Wynne,

Also saw my first ever case of a testicle torsion (never understand how that can happen)

But also a lovely user-practice colleague sending in a sick puppy of a client without money, where his own vet simply offered to pay "and I'll sort it out later with my client" (who already had a 1200 pound bill! ). And two lovely people bring in the feral cat from their garden, one with a cat bite abscess, the other with a horrendously infected footpad from an ingrowing claw. People happily paying the OOH charges for them.

So, having a lazy Boxing Day now!

I said to avoid Christmas Eve, as some stupid fool would be likely to give the turkey neck to the dog.

He said to avoid Boxing Day, as the diabetics who couldn't resist Christmas pudding would br dropping like flies from reactive hypos.

Loving it! I've always found the rodenticides come in out of hours (only ever had one during normal work hours) so now stock some fresh frozen plasma for such cases. One of the more frustrating ones no doubt, as most other things would be a quick consult then back home to a comfy sofa.

PS If anyone saw Call the Midwife, Jennifer Worth was definately not as portrayed. In the winter of 2005, she was looking forward to climbing Mont Ventoux on her trusty Roberts!!!
