Surely the criminals must have had access to the practice cheque book?

This is a bank security issue then. Surely they must not rely on a signature for proof of identity! As mentioned before, our signatures(veterinary or not) are everywhere and could be copied by anyone you ever signed anything for: postman, car dealer, everyone you ever payed by cheque ...

As several others I have no issue with sending a digital copy of my signature, but I seriously doubt the legal value.

I've used 3 signatures for ages anyway; veterinary, banking/legal, and personal. (The vet one is the quick squiggle we all know and love.)

good advice, we have several attempted frauds (one successful) with people trying to wihtdraw money and cash cheques using vets' signatures in a bank. . I am working on a new veterinary one now.

HM Government have decided it is OK therefore it is OK!

Not sure there are enough staff of sufficient calibre to monitor things anyway. It is cheaper to react to a problem than prevent a problem in the first place! Who cares about security anymore?

Honestly, I dont know what people are worried about. If we can't trust a private business contracted to do work for a government department, who can we trust?

That signature is kept on file so that in the event of a query or audit of your activities as an OV it can be checked by the Ministry Folk. So it certainly won't be deleted.

I agree with all of the above postings. I suppose my uneasiness comes from my scanned in signature being accepted as me having signed a document. What is the added value? As many have said: many people have access to my signature to scan in and send as a file, It is the same as just giving my name and some details. I am just not very happy by my signature existing on file send into cyberspace. I hope Improve International deletes it.

I have no real concerns - by now my signature is scattered across the southern bit of the UK on numerous vaccine cards, prescriptions and other whatnot.

I don't think anyone can do any real damage with it, and if someone is determined to forge something then they will regardless, I somehow doubt improve are going to publish our signatures.

As AHVLA have just about everyones signature on a TB test chart and these are all scanned and a zillion people have a vaccination certificate with a signature, then I really can't see there being an issue? I don't see why you should any more than than you would over a copy of your signature being kept for your passport, your bank account, credit card or your driving licence.

However, I just bi-passed that bit, paid me money and took me chance and as far as I'm aware I'm registered although it did say I may be asked later.

Someone could scan a vaccination card you signed and get your signature that way, or a cheque or a letter. I have a copy of my signature scanned into my computer and saved for everything but official letters. Works well.
