I get my owners to weight food out once a week, get 7 little bags, one for each day. I think that's more likely to get compliance than expecting them to do it on a daily /per meal basis. Advise on lower calorie treat options. I agree that monitoring & ongoing support/encouragement is hugely important and not an option on the survey though.

Re: Can you spare 20 mins to complete my dissertation questionnaire? This is only for the convenience of the owners, or it is presented as if it has to be done, like vaccinations. But it is a disaster in labradors, retrievers, staffies.

I also found some questions impossible to answer correctly: example Who plays the key role in the practice tackling obesity the nurse or the vet. Obviously it is both, in different roles but acting as one team.

Also the question of ranking methods to tackle weight: Only 4 methods and not the ones I find most helpful. Which owner is going to weigh the food? Just a smaller eating bowl helps already. Which owner is going to not give any treats to their dog. They just should give smaller ones and be aware of the high calory ones. And the role of frequent weighing of the pet, which is so motivating and helpful to see if they are on the right way was not even there! Frequent weighing is almost the most important because it gives the owner no way out if the pet is not losing or God forbid still gaining weight. And as soon as it starts losing some, then that morivates to go on doing what they have been doing,
