Zero to 6000 deaths in a few weeks makes Ebola a terrifying risk should it get into the slums of a big city.

Of course the song is cr*p and the people singing it are probably doing it to make themselves feel warm and fuzzy as they count their millions in the bank but that does not make the fund raising less useful. Comments about the unsuitability of the lyrics did make me laugh as most of the population in the affected areas are muslim and they probably don't c

Zero to 6000 deaths in a matter of weeks is worthy of world attention.

Also if your graph was 25 years ago, HIV would be Ebola, Would you still stop HIV funding on this stat? Also if left unchecked then Ebola would replace HIV on that graph pretty quickly.

And when Ebola finally goes away, will the intrastructure built be torn down and medical expertese disappear (well unless Harrogate hospital poaches the doctors) Should Bill Gates not be donating millions to Malarial research, should we simply be turning our backs on humanity or should be a touch myopic in our outlook.

Or put it another way, the next time you see a cat with Feline Infectious Anaemia, just tell the owner I'm not bothering as Hyperthyroidism is a bit more common and so needs your resources

If we don't do more to tackle ebola now then that same problem - Ebola - will be very much closer to home. I've just donated via the DEC's website to their ebola appeal

I consider Ebola to be a world problem. Totally unacceptable that funding should have to be via charitable donations. According to St Bob the Geldof ,Germany has done bu**er all. At least the UK has pulled its weight.

The situation is what it is and I am happy to donate as long as I don't have to listen to the song!
