Maybe the answer is for us to develop something which shows new events / headlines etc within a widget in the forums.

The problem I see is that if everyone posts their advertising here, posts will be replaced with 'commercials'.

I should take some blame too as I did post for one of the charities I support in here. :-/

Perhaps you should!

(Anyway, you don't generally need to visit the events section itself, as they appear on the home page as they are published, so you only need to glance at the home page on your way in).

Arlo, I almost never check the events section. I check for new posts many times throughout the day.
