Many years ago when my younger daughter was about 8 years old we were involved in a road rage incident as I was picking her up from school (It was of course the other driver's fault but he though it was mine!) which resulted in him getting out the car and challenging me to get out. I duly complied but as the pen is mightier than the sword managed to diffuse the situation verbally and without me swearing. However he was effing and blinding and showing no signs of stopping, then said daughter got out and to my shock said to him, 'No you're the one who should f**k off'. Whilst I was quietly proud she had been brave enough to defend her dad I told her off, not for knowing such words (I don't believe she learned it from me - I made a point of never swearing in front of my children) but because until now we had the moral high ground and we had now been reduced to his level. However he was not quite sure what to do at this point and skulked off to his car with his tail between his legs still muttering profanities, Daughter sat in the car with a smug look on her face for the rest of the journey home and I couldn't help but laugh.

Re: Dammit

Bob Don't you know Arlo is far far too proper to say anything really rude?

But having got home I then worried that maybe I'd bent the signpost into the road in such a way that someone else would have an accident. So I returned to the scene of the crime to make it safe. Having done that, I went home and then worried that it was the only stop sign, and maybe someone might, well, not stop and have an accident. So I rang the police to suggest they might like to put up a temporary sign. They told me to tell the council, er, so I did.

As I say, I'd make a useless criminal!

Well, yes, that did occur to me. But I'm such a pathetic criminal, I couldn't even do a proper hit and run on a signpost!

I mean, I did do a runner, but only because there was water flooding out of the car, and I thought I'd better try and get the children home before the engine overheated. But having got home I then worried that maybe I'd bent the signpost into the road in such a way that someone else would have an accident.
