For those who don't know, Premvet is a veterinary management and clinical record software.

I can confirm that any system housed and running on Windows 2003 server with remote desktop ( RDP) and to ensure your data isn't compromised, a secure virtual private network or VPN, should work on any smart phone as long as the applicatons are available for that particular smart phone. I use an Iphone and if necessary for remote support, I can access our customers systems, including the integrated X-ray images of the animal in the medical record. On the very odd occasion I have done this, it has worked well even when a 3G connection wasn't available. However I think the reality of using such a device to work on a daily basis would result in eye strain begin the restricting factor, even with the Iphones ability to enlarge the screen image.

One thing to consider here is that if your practice management system was web-based (which brings many other benefits with it), then you could access it directly via the Safari browser on your iPhone. This would include any part of the system, including checking appointments, clinical notes, client account balance etc.

Hi Nick

Our system unfortunately isn't web-based so this is not an option.

We use Teleos on a terminal server but any other system that uses terminal servers would work just as well. Certainly all smart phones running Windows mobile and Blackberry's can get a Remote Desktop (RDP) and access the full software. Not sure about Symbian based phones but presumably there is a client out there.

Not actually used it yet but should work well with a decent screen size. Most new phones with 3G or Wifi should cover it and bandwidth should be low on a terminal server.
