A colleague has a breeder client who as requested it for a stud ragdoll cat, who no longer wishes to breed from for now, but may do in the future.

I fail to see how the testicle could revascularise before cell necrosis - which would be complete within a few hours at most - was complete - not possible in my view. the only issue would be making sure you were severing the blood supply to the correct bit of tissue.

Re: Suprelorin implants in cats
Interesting. I've had a few I've not been able to find an abdominal testis but usually when I've traced the cord its gone through the inguinal canal. A couple I've dissected out to find it and just found a vestige the size of rice grain but its horrible surgery. Others I've left at that stage and the fact they've remained very un-male I assume they were the same.
I recently came across a case where a cryptorchid testicle could not be found in cat, so the surgeon "devascularised it" by severing the blood supply. I have never heard of this being done, has anyone else? I would have thought there would be a high possibility it could revascularise and become functional?

If your cat is showing male characteristics it should have a sizeable functional testis. I wonder whether your inability to find it was more due to your reluctance to slice and dice your own cat?! I know I've gone into denial with my cats before over what may involve extensive surgery.

Re: Suprelorin implants in cats

We've used it in our own cryptorchid cat.
