Of course there are a lot of opinions expressed on them and some are very weird/dangerous.
Now I feel that it is best that the truth is explained where approriate and have come up

Re: Pet forums - Integrating with the Public
I am firmly of the opinion that the internet is a massive educational tool for owners but disinformation is out there and unless we speak up and explain the issues we can't complain if the public have misconceptions about these issues.
I couldn't agree more. This thread (or rather, the comments following the Daily Mail story) is quite representative of the sort of misconceptions that exist: http://www.vetsurgeon.org/forums/p/1225/1343.aspx#1343

I certainly don't think you're wasting your time. I think you're doing something very valuable for the profession. The problem is that if errors and misconceptions are not challenged, they are so often taken as fact, and then remain there in the internetosphere for the world to see indefinitely.

For what you are doing to have most impact, you probably need to restrict your activities to the most popular websites where pet issues are discussed, including national newspapers and the main pet owner websites.
