I'm loathe to buy a whole new one, and even more so to spend over forty quid on the binaural piece, which includes both ear pieces but not the diaphragm.
Anybody know where

Re: Littmanns tubing

Yep, it's definitely skin contact that does it. The trouble is, I can't for the life of me remember when or where I bought the d* mn thing, so can't get a free replacement.

And after trying to dismantle it to use the old bit of tubing, I find that the ear pieces are connected to a tube-within-a-tube. I may have to splash out on a new one after all.

At least I can write it off against tax, now I'm self employed.

Re: Littmanns tubing

Interesting! I have just been through this with my Littmann. 4yr old master cardiology and the tubing cracked through to lumen...looked on medisave website and to replace the tubing would have cost £90!!
As it turns out, I had bought the stethoscope from medisave originally, and it is covered by 7yr warranty, so they replaced it completely FOC.
Apparently the degrading of the tubing is often due to wearing the stethoscope around your neck ( which I tend to do or I lose it)- they advised it is the contact with the lipids on our skin that eventually degrades the tubing.

Re: Littmanns tubing

That keeps happening to mine too. Thames medical do the tubing only for £15, i'm not sure if it will fit onto the litmanns though.

Re: Littmanns tubing

http://www.medisave.co.uk/littmann-user-faq/
