Not just listen but enact quickly some pretty seismic shifts in an organisation

Re: RCVS: The worrying thing about petitions

2 individuals who got off their butts and did something, that made it easier for the rest of us to say 'hey, i don't like that either!'

I think the comment about not taking part in RCVS discussions and consultations is very relevant - are we all too busy or is it just laziness? Same goes for voting in RCVS elections. You largely get the government you deserve.

If petitions like these make it easier for the RCVS to engage with the membership, hey it's just another tool!

Re: RCVS: The worrying thing about petitions

Is this, as well as being commendable, not also damning in how it highlights how out of touch that expensive Westminster building is?
+1
Changing things can have bad results too.
If changing things were too easy, we would complain about things not being thought thoroughly enough when a bad result is obtained. I'm happier with a bit of 'conservatism' (... says the lefty guy... )

Re: RCVS: The worrying thing about petitions

If you look at the RCVS council minutes (available to all) they are constantly doing consultations and getting a handful of responses. I'm sure if 1000 of us had bothered to make contact with them when they suggested not listing post nominals in the register it wouldn't have gone through in the first place.

I would appear, that by accident, the profession has found a way of communicating its feelings with the College and the College is listening. It must be rather lonely sitting there making decisions that concern us, when we cannot be bothered to engage in the consultation process.

I actually see this as a big step in the right direction.

Re: RCVS: The worrying thing about petitions
Is this, as well as being commendable, not also damning in how it highlights how out of touch that expensive Westminster building is?
