She has told me that Tramadol is to become a Schedule 3 drug from June 10th or thereabouts. We already have ours in the drug safe, but this will obviously become a necessity as will extra logging

Re: Tramadol Schedule change

Common sense would suggest any medication with a history of abuse should be stored safely.
'Tramadol

The government has considered the concerns raised in the consultation and has decided to place tramadol in Schedule 3 to the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 when it is controlled later this year, but with exemption from the safe custody requirements'

There is no requirement to record Sch 3 CDs in your Register.

General advice is that it is good practice to keep all Sch 3's in a locked cupboard.

Re: Tramadol Schedule change

Interesting to see that it isn't just veterinary surgeons who fall over themselves to over comply with legislation of dubious benefit that should have lobbied to death long ago....

Re: Tramadol Schedule change

Ah, posted as you were posting!

Re: Tramadol Schedule change

How odd - the govt specifically exempted them from that because of representations from the royal college of pharmacists. We keep a very close record of all our controlled drugs as it means we are always going to be aware of any being missing.
