Hi,

I have been with Andy Moore and Moore Scarrott since I became a partner back in 2004. He has seen me through a partnership, buy out of my partner, transition to a limited company, brining in a new Director and in the last 6 months, the exit of that Director. I have known Andy for over 10 years now and the advice both he and his colleagues have given to me has always been second to none. We have saved way more than the fees charged in the long run and during that time I have learnt far more from them than I ever would have done from attending courses/reading books on practice management. They provide a 1st class service and have helped my business grow tremendously during the time I have worked with them. There are many areas they can help practices from advice and support, mentoring through to the accountancy procedures. Cannot rate them highly enough and owe a lot of the success of my practice to Andy and his team. Make the change to them and if you are proactive vet looking to improve your business you won't look back!

The critical thing is not to get an expensive bookkeeper but to get one who is acutely advisory and proactive.

Just like vets, you want to get one who gives advice not one who just vaccinates the new pup, jab, £40.00 thank you, without advice on the many things we know about. Similarly accountants!

Good tax planning, partnership and limited company advice and the ins and outs, will save you more than the poshest accountant in Canary Wharf, but is a rare find.

Not if the local firm are a useless, layabout bunch of lazy crooks! Everything went down as motoring expenses, presumably so any tax inspection would have led to a rebate!

Our experience of a local accountant was disastrous. Obviously autoclaves must be valid motoring expenses!

Much happier with the idea of Johns successor! Thanks.

We've used Hazelwoods for the last few years who are effectively the big competition to Moore Scarrot. I've spoken to Andy Moore a couple of times at events such as BCVA and always been very impressed with him. Moving to a accountant who understands all the ins and outs of veterinary was certainly a good decision for us.

When we changed accountants it ws a choice between Moore scarrat and john sower and we choose john because he was close. Andy Moore was a really nice proactive guy so we have no problems in moving on to him. Hope this reassures you Bob!

I have used Moore Scarrott since I started. I think they are great and I have one point of contact. The Moore (Andy) is son of Bob Moore ex RCVS president so there is a family link to the business of veterinary medicine.

'Big' as in looking after a lot of vets not big as in large offices and zillions of underlings!

I have done big accountants, small ones, local ones, national ones over the years. John is someone you can sit down with, mull over the figures, have a chat as you would an old friend.

When you find an accountant you trust change is unsettling. Not for a second suggesting I am going to change but according to the gross pink brochure they deal with 200 veterinary practices to Johns 250!

We are in the same boat. On paper seemed sensible, but then the luminous pink brochure landed from Moore Scarrott and I did wonder how well they would meet my needs.

I'm young and a little ignorant when it comes to the business management side of things and John has been great. He has also saved me a lot of money so far. Silly things like the Sage is specifically set up by them for vet practices rather than millions of unused codes...

How much do you really need a 'big' accountant with commensurately big fees? Surely you, or your practice manager if you have one, have your finger on the pulse of the business and all you need is someone to dot the i's and cross the t's. The local bloke round the corner is OK for me.
