Specifically, who owns the dogs when they've been paid for by a client?

Be careful with that statement.

If a 'rescue charity' gets a dog from the pound and after you tell them that the dog is aggressive and slander you publicly for saying so... and then bites someone's head off... then they aren't a 'Good Thing' are they?

This means they are taxed differently to normal businesses, including VAT and may have no ownership structure as such, though salaries can be paid. Surpluses are permitted, but if costs match these there is no surplus.

Unlike a charity there is no need for trustees for scrutiny and direction and no registered charitable aims.

Are they allowed to do fundraising if they aren't a charity?

Why are they fundraising for cataract surgery for dogs? Surely there are many other treatments which will have a bigger impact on welfare.

Re: Many Tears Animal Rescue

Very astute at marketing! Pretty sure not actually a charity!

There are a lot of uncontrolled rescues working with minimal accountability or regulation.

Perhaps enough said!

Re: Many Tears Animal Rescue

The way these 'charities' usually work is that the dog is not 'sold' by the charity to the client. The client gives a 'donation' so they can keep the dog.

Who's the owner? There is a 'contact us' tab on the site. I suggest you ask them.
