I think you have the world on your side Cat, but not so much in Britain. We have the NHS which is unique and an extremely sentimental blinkered animal entitlement culture which is not unique but extremely well developed here and not often countered by rational discources like your well written piece.

Interestingly, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. If you look at the FaceBook comments at the bottom of the blog, most are supportive of the piece. To be fair, most are also from the veterinary community but there are quite a few from pet owners as well. Of course, there have been detractors but most are the usual nutters and they have nearly all been replied to by supporters countering their arguments.

To be honest, I have been really surprised how little negativity there has been (I was a bit worried when it started to go viral!). However, it's not a terribly unreasonable stand-point; 'We would like to be paid for the work we do' and once people have read it, they seem to agree!

It's rather nice to have the world on our side for once!
