Hi Anna, what type of practice are you wanting to go back into? The BVA offer some Clinical Refresher courses that are designed specifically for people returning from a career break into a small animal or mixed practice (http://www.bva.co.uk/events/3188.aspx). Not sure if you’re a member, but if you are you can get 50% off.

Hi Anna,

After several years out and a relocation, I got in touch with the local practice looking for experience ,and they offered me a few hours of paid work!

One word of advice though - you must be a full member of RCVS and not "non -practising" to do any form of surgery even if you are just seeing practice. At least that was what I was told when I phoned them to check. It's only students who have special permission to carry out supervised procedures unregistered . You'll need VDS cover too...

try the rspca, they were very good to leave me do a lot of surgical procedures when i was seeing practice whilst i was in college .
