Aaagh - maybe I should loan you my former lab technician. She would happily perform an orchidectomy (sans g.a.) on any vet foolish enough to do this to 'her' microscope. (Although she did regularly leave her mascara smeared across the eyepiece - almost as annoying.....)

If there's oil on the lens, then you often need cotton buds as a lot of these lenses are concave on the end of them.

And on occasions you need to use about 20 cotton buds to actually remove the oil rather than just smear it around the lens.

Preferably soaked in lens cleaning solution, but I've resorted to meths on occasions.

Re: Microscope lens

Woodley were helpful when ours packed in - they also do a lens cleaning service aswell in case the boss is unavailable

Re: Microscope lens

Thanks Bob. There are a number of sellers that seem to break up good quality microscopes presumably for more money! Plenty of cheap Indian or Chinese optics there as well. Some of these are not that bad for day to day use.

I have a cheap Chinese microscope in my room and a better German one at my desk in the office!

Quite a smart looking Leitz 40X one on there for £65 at the moment!

Actually a cheaper one item number: 350988534419
