(I am only quoting you for your ideas Richard - not holding you responsible!)

I know nothing of Des Thompson or his achievements, so am not saying he isn't a worthy winner of this award. However, wouldn't you agree that he is exactly the type of 'usual suspect' that gets these types of award? It certainly indicates that being a 'political figure' is necessary to be thought of as having contributed significantly to our profession!

I would suggest you just use their address in the Register or check on find a vet on the RCVS web site. I'm sure that the registered address will be fine!!

I would like to nominate someone but the form requests a home address for the nominee - much as I am very obliged and respectful of the person I have not resorted to stalking them - is it acceptable to leave this box empty?

That's a good point - but its great to hear you have someone in mind - the whole idea is to try and find people outside the 'usual' circle of award winners and I think people need to look outside the box a bit.

The idea of the vet who rescued the dog is wonderful - I hope someone nominates them.

Lets hope we get some really interesting and challenging nominations!

I have it in mind to nominate a wonderful man who has contributed a huge amount to the profession over many years - but never received any official recognition.

However - on looking at the nomination papers on the RCVS website it does say: 'Nominees should not be made aware of their nomination, to avoid disappointment in the event that their nomination is unsuccessful'.

So I don't think publicly naming names here would be appropriate.

Can't remember off the top of my head but what about the vet who climbed down the crevice to save a dog in Wales (?) after the mountain rescue people couldn't fit? Was on a thread here, I'd nominate them.
