&lt;p&gt;Rightly so IMO. We are talking genuine emergencies then ANY vet should be able to stop the blood running out until further help available. The part where it gets confusing is drugs - you are the only vet contactable and the horse is in pain with colic and all you have are small animal drugs..........&lt;/p&gt;

I felt pretty ill even walking last the door.
Luckily, the practice was big enough for me to avoid any involvement, I don&amp;#39;t know what I would have done otherwise.
I have stitched up a frog (yuk) and tried to anaesthetise some toads ( mega yuk) and even seen a tree frog with a sore eye ( if I remember correctly)- all made me freak out very quietly and calmly.. You know thst thing where your moth goes all funny and your tongue feels wrong?!
I was a professional but it was really really hard to just be in the same room.
