There is a hackers E Mail going about telling you to click a hyperlink to preserve your E mail. It looks correct except when you hover over the BT address it's an AOL address.
I had something similar last year and contacted BT directly to find out if it was spam or true. It didn't take long to find out that I should do nothing and all would be well. I agree some of these scams are getting harder to detect - though I often hope that Mr James Imaconartist and his friends in Nigeria really do have several million pounds of inheritance money to come my way from a long lost relative I never knew I had.....

I have one hard and fast rule.

NEVER click a link in an email to a website where I know I will be asked to enter information of any sort.

If I am asked to enter information that I might want to enter, then I go to my browser, type the url and visit the site 'manually'. That way I know I am on the website belonging to my bank, british telecom, amazon, etc etc.

All-in-all, took quite a bit of sorting out!

The spam filter works well on my computer most of the time but the emails on my phone (Windows 8) show just how many are being intercepted!
