Just goes to prove you were selling yourself too cheap!

We started using sevo a few years ago and, overnight, put up the majority of our ops by £5. Nothing said to clients as, basically, our anaesthetic choice is nothing to do with them! (I'm not a believer in the 'we use a safer anaesthetic' rubbish...) Same happened to us as to you - either nobody noticed or nobody cared!!!!!

More re "Practice Plans" - anyone any direct experience re the BVA endorsed Lloyd & White "Flexi-Plan". No setup fees and flat rate 65p charge structure which is very competitive versus others out there. But reliable, efficient, good back up? Thoughts please!

I need/want flea treatments for my dogs 12 months a.year. Even though the surgers is acclaimed every 2 months.

We have a plan like this, it is great for compliance.

When offering weare very clear what is included and if is wrong for the patient, let them know. I also tell them we are delighted to work on a pay as you go basis. I insist that clients are given the option and oppertunity to concider the plan though.

Charities get money off clinical work. Giving 25% off clinical work to healthy pets members would result in no food on my dinner table, possibly baked beans.

Of many hundreds, no one ever came in for retrospective yars supply. is covered in t&cc's if does happen.

Indeed.

Essentially you can put what you want in your health plan. We are looking at vaccinations, flea control, worming, discount off 'routine' procedures but essentially excluding everything that pet insurance covers. i.e. it should complement illness/injury 'cover'.

I'm interested in your views on this. What level of discount are most people offering with these schemes? I've come across 15-25% on surgery etc being offered which seems a huge amount! Our clients are very bonded to us- do you think it makes any difference? The commission is £1.22 with 22p per extra animal- how far did you talk your provider down? Do you have problems with people not picking flea stuff up and then expecting a years supply - to be honest who needs 12mnths flea treatment year on year for their pet? I have a big ethical issue selling goods that aren't really required!

The companies offering such deals will set it up and do the admin and print you some nice literature, but they charge a pretty hefty ongoing commission so argue it down as much as you can. Running it yourself is possible but you need to cost your time to do so.

Beware also that you don't just sign your most committed owners up, to get the same service/products for less money (plus the commission for the administrators...); it has to drive more business and sales. Remember, profit is sanity!

Expected a better uptake TBH. They paid for the launch and all promotional materials. The not-collected but paid for flea and worm Tx more than pays the fees. We will ring people to say it is ready.
