One of my own cats is, and he gets itchy, very subdued, his nails beds/interdigital web become puffy and he constantly chews his nails. And there weren't that many mites on him, they were sitting mainly in the folds around the nails. Despite Advocate. The other cat doesn't seem to be too bothered by them though.

Re: Pawing at muzzle
Are harvest mites really that irritant -especially if you can't find them?
They drive my little dog mad. She has sensitive skin controlled via diet. Turns her into a squirming pruritic mass. A good squirt all over with Frontline and a couple of little white tablets and back to normal.

Re: Pawing at muzzle
One more for harvest mites. I saw an Akita last week as an emergency because after coming home from a walk went mental, racing through the house digging the floor, jumping on and off the furniture, panting like hell.

One injection of chlorphenamine was enough. I couldn't find the bright orange things but am convinced that was it.
