It actually makes my skin crawl.
After all the debate on the news this morning about dangerous dogs and changes in the legislation I think this demonstrates nicely how most people have no idea what actually

Re: Dangerous Dog?

If you have lived with a good natured GSD (as we do) the risk to the child is very slight! Ours would cook a meal for the kids in our household (if he could), spoon feed it and would happily share!.

This is not a fight for food, more a party piece!

Re: Dangerous Dog?

:550:0]

This one is terrifying too - I can't believe how tolerant the dog is. And the owners think it's funny!

Re: Dangerous Dog?

A lot of threatening behaviour but the dog is mouthing rather than biting. Despite this not a safe situation for the child or the dog.

If the dog were to turn because it is a staffie type it may not stop until it has done some real damage. They do have a high tolerance threshold (which make them good family pets) but my experience is that when they go they really go!!

This is not a dangerous dog but one that exhibits perfectly normal dog behaviour. Yet it will go horribly wrong and one poor vet will be the one to clean up after someone who clearly doesn't have a clue what he's doing. I just hope the poor child won't be harmed. It will only take a few minor alterations (no dog on sofa, no child annoying the dog, no food bowl between them etc.) and this disaster waiting to happen could be avoided. I really hope he'll listen to someone telling him what to do.

Re: Dangerous Dog?

I don't think that is a dangerous dog - just an idiot owner/parent - dog would probably be fine in a sensible home. That poor dog is being tormented yet it is still showing a fair degree of bite inhibition otherwise the child would be at least crying, rather than giggling, or at worst an amputee. When that doesn't work it's raising its lips and growling - again perfectly natural dog behaviour (if not taught differently) especially since it's guarding its prime position on the sofa, next to the owner, who is almost praising it for mouthing the child, and someone's also waving a bowl of food for good measure. Meanwhile the idiot parent is encouraging the child to continue to torment the dog Yet when the dog snaps it will be the dog's fault and a pts. It's a bit like encouraging the child to play chicken with the cars on a busy road, then blaming a driver for hitting her.

Re: Dangerous Dog?

Jeez.
