I agree the comments above are unfair. The Panorama programme was horrendous but I am sure over several months of filming disturbing things (to the untrained eye) could be put together in almost any practice.

This comes from someone very far from keen about any chains, corporates and conglomerates!

Why not phone a few partners (unannounced) and ask?

Re: Medivet Partnership
Unless they've altered significantly-you will be pressurised into allowing lay staff to break the law, by performing tasks which are the legal preserve of veterinary surgeons, or qualified VNs
Hi Hannah,

That's very unfair.

I understand that the RCVS investigated and found no evidence to
support the idea that Medivet pressured vets in the way you suggest. With
such a high profile case, I am sure you can imagine that the RCVS would not
have come to that conclusion lightly.

Secondly, I'm told that Medivet has voluntarily committed to
random unannounced independent quarterly checks to maintain the highest
standards, so if there was anything like that going on, it would be picked up
pretty sharpishly. It hasn't.

In many ways, I thought Medivet was unfairly shafted by
Panorama. All the same, I think it has gone to impressive lengths to address
the issues raised by the programme, some of which were pretty misleading in the
first place.

Graham, I can't answer your original question, but I'm quite sure
you have nothing to worry about when it comes to tasks performed by your lay
staff.

Re: Medivet Partnership

Unless they've altered significantly-you will be pressurised into allowing lay staff to break the law, by performing tasks which are the legal preserve of veterinary surgeons, or qualified VNs
