So Applecross peninsula done, finished with the Bealach. Stunning ride, only problem was its a bit short but we finished at a pub. Absolutely stunning. https://www.strava.com/activities/66740486

Yes plenty of midges, just hoping they cannot fly at the reported 70mph possible on the decent from the Bealach

The Ride the North looks nice and apart from 1 decent climb, not too hilly. The Bealach-na-Ba was voted one of the best mountain climbs in Europe, one to add to the bucket list along with Alpe D'Huez, Mont Ventoux or Col de Tourmalet. You will have to post photos of that one. Just a tad jealous but I am hoping the weather will be better in Pyrenees! Do the midges get that far north?

London is a bit far for me but the official website is very good and I will be following the stages when at work. We are going to the Pyrenees in the summer so I will be doing my fanboy stuff and cycling up a few of the classic cols. I have a handful of HC & Cat 1 climbs planned and plenty of hill training beforehand. Might have to be a pain au chocolat at the top! We wont be anywhere near the actual race this year but big plans for 2014 for Leeds, Harrogate & York.

I think this is an event site in London for the whole tour, not just the UK leg. Could be wrong on that but spread the word amongst your cycling fan friends (I am disappointingly exercise-adverse).

Thanks, nice idea but I've got two sites sorted. The Tour goes past my old house, near as dammit, in Leeds, and my sister will have to put me up for a day or two.

Then, I have a good friend in Lancashire where the Tour goes past the end of her lane, at the bottom of a long hill, a few days after Leeds. She has a cottage out to rent so, I'll be taking the wife away for a special weekend just as the Tour happens to be there. There might be a bit of a whoosh and blurred spectacle when they go past there though.
