I was wondering if anyone ever worked for CC practice, or knows someone who has/is working for them? I'm going for an interview in one of their practices and have heard very mixed opinions from other vets about them, so not sure what to think

Re: Companion Care

I work for a Companion Care, and love it! The system seems to work well, JVP's get support from head office for things like locums / staffing as needed, equipment purchasing etc. There are just over 100 or so "in-store" CC's, and 5 or so stand-alone ones. I spend most of my time in a stand-alone practice but the JVP's own an in-store one too and I spend a day or two a week there, and like it also. Don't really notice being inside the store. As mentioned above definitely need to be happy with exotics and small furries, we see them daily, lots of rabbit neutering etc, but I love that side of it too. All-in-all I think the companion care model, from what I've seen, works very well, and would definitely recommend it, I really enjoy it.

Re: Companion Care

:) thank you.

PS I work nights, so daylight has long been forgotten :)

Re: Companion Care

I locumed for them and was impressed by the quality of their services. I had not expected that level in a "supermarket practice". The onlly reason I would not want to work for them full time was the windowless premises in the back of as supermarket, only way to see daylight was to go out of the back for a smoke and then you are in the concrete desert of the parking for lorries. It was like working in a submarine, in winter you see no daylight for months!

Mariette

PS Since the petshops they work in sell lots of exotics you will probably tend to see quite a bit of those and would be good to prepare you for that.
