If you want a handheld (Black and Decker have most of the market) then I'd go for a lithium ion one, as IME the NiCad batteries don't last so well.

Re: Quiet Please

Thanks Sarah, meant to say for kennels.... not theatre......

Re: Quiet Please

Has anybody worked somewhere with piped vacuum? I once worked in a clinic with a vacuum unit in the basement and piping delivering vacuum all over the surgery . It was fantastic. Just open the pipe and attach a hose and away you go. Great vacuum, no noise. The boss loved it so much he has his house piped similarly.

Re: Quiet Please

Why does quiet matter? We have a Henry and that has a low vacuum setting. That's what we use.

Re: Quiet Please

We have the Dustbuster Pivot.

Not ultra quiet but not bad considering its power.

The nurses were not impressed when I told them what it cost but have been more than pleased with it. Much better than the cheaper ones

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Decker-Dustbuster-Handheld-Cleaner/dp/B004XCFHYU

Does not have a paper filter and is easy to keep clean.

Edit: it does have a washable filter apparently but is easy to dismantle and clean!

Re: Quiet Please

Would that be a quiet, i.e. low noise, vacuum or a vaccum that is not quite hand-held? Sorry, can't help myself

But honestly, I thought it is a bad idea to use vacuums in theatre as spred the dust and therefore bacteria into the air and spread everywhere. This applies if cleaning theatre or cleaning patients, which ideally shouldn't be done in theatre anyway. We use sticky rollers for hair removal.
