They suggested further training (from what I could gather) which he has refused and has suggested he be removed from all LVI panels instead (mainly in a strop). So they have followed it up but don't think any more will happen. I'm glad someone reported him- he had argued with me over this very issue and its one in a long list of things he should be called to account for.
Whoops sounds like I've opened the proverbial. If it is your boss anon then he doesn't sound like the sort of person I'd like to work for either so best of luck for the future, you sound the sort of person who has good principles and I'd employ if I had a vacancy.

I suspect it is down to injection technique and how much of a wimp the recipient is. I had to have daily I/P injections of heparin when I broke my leg and was lying in traction in hospital in Austria to prevent DVT and they didn't hurt at all - in fact the broken leg didn't hurt either so maybe I just have high pain threshold or am made from sterner stuff.

Re: Doing the job properly - why do we bother?
I was under the impression it was the post exposure injections that were painful. I had rabies vaccinations 20 years ago (OMG) and they were not painful either. The post exposure ones are supposed to be only marginally better than the rabies they are intended to prevent - better hope they work and you don't e d up having both as that would be a really bad day!
That might not be the case anymore either. My boyfriend during veterinary school had to be vaccinated post exposure and he didn't find it painful at all. I know a couple of other people who had to be vaccinated post exposure and they didn't find it very painful either. Come to think of it some of the incidents date back 25 years or more :-(

Re: Doing the job properly - why do we bother?
If anyone is worried about getting vaccinated against rabies, fear not -

Further update since last post and it only gets worse. According to the client, apparently the vet involved phoned DEFRA who told him to implant a new chip and alter the passport accordingly as it was exceptional circumstances. I can't check this with the vet as the client won't tell me who it was. If this is true I wonder why we bother at all.

If true. If it's true, why not give you the name of the vet? While I like to think i'm a nice guy, I'm not sure i'd lay my neck on 'they said they said'!

Re: Doing the job properly - why do we bother?
Any update on this Martin?
