Most of us at some time have done some in-practice cadaver surgery. I was wondering if anyone has a system for gaining informed consent from owners after a pts, and any feedback on owners response if they do? Or do we all just do it occasionally

Re: cadaver surgery

Recently discussed - see: http://www.vetsurgeon.org/forums/t/14971.aspx

Re: cadaver surgery

I don't think it's at all appropriate if not given permission of some sort by the owners. It's not usually difficult to ask, especially if done for good reason. If it is difficult to ask, it's probably not appropriate!

I've usually just verbally discussed and made a note in the record where appropriate, but others on here have mentioned a tick box - opt in/opt out for PM whether for diagnostic purposes (probably should be charged for this) or educational (FOC).
