Respect for seeing David Bowie! He is my idol and I have
never seen him. I was booked up to see him in 2004 in Fife but he cancelled
through illness. I
also regret never seeing Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin although I did see Robert
Plant and Jimmy Page playing some Zep tunes in Glasgow in 1998. Planning to see Metallica at some point. I really like Evanescence; although I'm a big
fan of those cheeky Italian Goth rockers Lacuna Coil and have seen them several

Great trip down memory lane! My first gig was Queen at

I saw them again a couple of times at the Apollo and once at Edinburgh
Playhouse. They really knew how to rock! I also saw Hawkwind just after that. In those days passive smoking was never discussed and I staggered out slightly stoned by exposure to clouds of dope wafted in my direction by fellow
concert goers!

Disappointments for me were seeing the Strokes
when lead singer Julian Casablancas was out of his face. I thought the Red Hot
Chilli Peppers were dull and I was dismayed when Amy Winehouse and Gogol Bordello
failed to show up at T in the Park in 2007. I saw Amy the following year in
2008 and she made up for it

Woo! Lots of rock lovers in here! Amazing! I was one of the very few rock and metal lovers in my year!

My favourite band of ALL TIME is Faith No More. Saw then twice on their reunion tour (first time seeing them live!) and it was amazing. I also like Mike Pattons various side projects (love that man) like Mr Bungle, Lovage, Tomahawk, Fantomas etc. My new recent old love is Rush! I love Rush, they are playing in Glasgow soon and I need to get tickets. They are also amazing live. Manic Street Preachers are also fab, seen them loads. The Wildhearts and Ginger Wildheart solo stuff is cool. My boyfriend has vaguely got me into (insomuch as that iI'l go see them and enjoy myself) Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Afghan Whigs, The Gutter Twins, Mark Lanegan, Richard Thompson. I could write lists and lists! I'm sure i've forgotten some other big faves of mine (eg dirty pleasure of Tom Jones) and old classics I love like Maiden and some early Meatloaf (good driving singalong stuff!). I seem to like older stuff even though i've just turned 30!
Yup, will be singing at folk club tomorrow night, grew up listening to folk music. Now I like anything with a singable melody; I sing folk, jazz standards and show tunes.

This is my singing teacher - awesome voice!

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o4lmilvqov0?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'll take that as an excuse to remind you all of the finest singer EVER. For some reason there is hardly any video around of her finest performances, but these should send a shiver down your spine.

As for the best live acts... I'd agree with Maiden and Rage, and only strongly disagree with Beyonce - only cause it's not my thing...!
James, Beyonce is so not my thing either but I saw her at T in the Park and I have to put my hands up and say that she was incredible, and very gracious too. A lot of people changed their opinion that afternoon!

Re: Musical Interlude
Best band I've seen live though are without a doubt - MUSE! They did a brilliant show at the O2 last year and going to see them again in Manchester in a few weeks. They seem to have evolved from being a rock band for geeks to true stadium show stoppers in the last few years - awesome!
Rob, I agree. I've seen Muse a few times and they are stunning. If you like Muse, have you seen Biffy Clyro live? The last time I saw them in Glasgow, I was buzzing for ages. They are mighty! I can't stop playing their new album "Opposites". I'm convinced there will not be a better rock album released this year.

I always had music on when operating, although was never assertive enough to play my own stuff. The nurses were sometimes disturbed if I tried to dance. First thing I did in theatre at night when a caesar or GDV came in was to get the radio on, otherwise I felt I couldn't work at optimal efficiency!

Re: Musical Interlude
Awww Alice's restaurant, that brings back some memories! I'm a folk girl, I play irish traditional music myself and like to listen to that stuff as well, and all kinds of folk are up my street, Jim Croce being one of my favourites. But then the good old Meatloaf springs to mind, too. No music in our theater though as they'd all run if I'd play what I like and I can't stand most of their stuff :-)

I get that a bit :) I'm a guitar player myself, and the old folk music is great fun.
