Great trip down memory lane! My first gig was Queen at Glasgow Apollo in 1975. I was 15 and I think the ticket cost £2.50. Queen were awesome. I saw them again a couple of times at the Apollo and once at Edinburgh Playhouse. They really knew how to rock! I also saw Hawkwind just after that. In those days passive smoking was never discussed and I staggered out slightly stoned by exposure to clouds of dope wafted in my direction by fellow concert goers!

Disappointments for me were seeing the Strokes when lead singer Julian Casablancas was out of his face. I thought the Red Hot Chilli Peppers were dull and I was dismayed when Amy Winehouse and Gogol Bordello failed to show up at T in the Park in 2007. I saw Amy the following year in 2008 and she made up for it

My favourite band of ALL TIME is Faith No More. Saw then twice on their reunion tour (first time seeing them live!) and it was amazing. Live at Brixton was an epiphany after having heard it all those years ago. Have just put up my (now framed) limited edition signed FNM posters in the living room. Well worth the (decidedly large amount of) money I paid for them!

In a more "rock" direction - listening to "my sleeping karma" today, great open instrumental band. Also I think everyone should have to at least listen to Karnivool. Amazing Australian prog metal band.

Never quite understood why she wanted to do that, except that she was probably so gracious that she would agree to sing with anyone. Plant likes duetting with talented ladies, doesn't he? The album with Alison Krauss is very fine in places.

Sandy Denny was indeed amazing and she also sang with Robert Plant in "The Battle of Evermore" on the album Led Zeppelin IV, and Led Zeppelin are the greatest rock band ever,in my humble opinion!

James, Beyonce is so not my thing either but I saw her at T in the Park and I have to put my hands up and say that she was incredible, and very gracious too. A lot of people changed their opinion that afternoon!

Rob, I agree. I've seen Muse a few times and they are stunning. If you like Muse, have you seen Biffy Clyro live? The last time I saw them in Glasgow, I was buzzing for ages. They are mighty! I can't stop playing their new album "Opposites". I'm convinced there will not be a better rock album released this year.

I always had music on when operating, although was never assertive enough to play my own stuff. The nurses were sometimes disturbed if I tried to dance. First thing I did in theatre at night when a caesar or GDV came in was to get the radio on, otherwise I felt I couldn't work at optimal efficiency!

I used to operate to Dillinger Escape Plan. Don't think the nurses really enjoyed that so much. Amazing live act BTW.
