They've developed (Shutl) and are developing (Amazon) same day delivery, with a view to next hour delivery for small items

Re: Crystal balls Amazon Shutl

[quote user="Michael Woodhouse"]I've built nearly £20,000 sales of anthelmintics from next to nothing in the last year with a bit if effort.
Hmmm, why do you think the merchants sell like they do? I think itt's probably to make a profit. So, what's profit for?

I appreciate that, but the clients are happy with the status quo, as things stand. I have offered people cheap drugs and high fees and no-one has taken me up on it. They are bright enough to realise that by me making a few pounds when they take the bottle of antibiotic then their calving at 4am is affordable and I am still here.

If we are forced to change then we will. To ramp up the hourly rate and give drugs away at cost would be madness at this time. If our hand was forced (and I would strongly communicate that with the clients as well as doing whatever I legally could to still offer medicines, even if that meant employing a pharmacist and having another premises) then the clients would be far more understanding.

Good clients get FOC delivery. FOC advice. FOC post drench checks etc.

I'm not frightened of change, but if I am not making money I'm not working the hours I do.
Rural Wensleydale is, well, rural Wensleydale. The generality of veterinary practice does not conform to the rural Wensleydale model. It is urban and semi-urban SA practice.

We all do, for now. I'm, as it says in the title of the thread contemplating balls which might be balls or the future - no privilege to dispense. I don't like having a business so dependent on drug sales with this on the horizon. The CC has not succeeded in achieving what it set out to do which is to provide transparency in the supply of meds particularly pricing. We are, effectively back where we were pre CC. When we were last in this position we got what we did from the CC and that "didn't work" , so what happens this time when, not if, the same sort of review happens?

With organisations like Shutl/Amazon delivering like we do, and with lower cost bases the public's supply of meds won't be compromised, so if you are CC or whatever why not put in a bit of Euro conformity to create the transparency so absent from veterinary practice medicines supply?

Check out the lead story on: http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/

While I don't seriously think that they'll suffer from me having withdrawn my trade for the time being (and informed them of the reason for this), I was surprised just how much I spent over the course of a year on amazon.

I think they offer a great consumer service, don't get me wrong, but I think I could offer a better service if I avoided paying tax also...
