If so can you tell me how you stitched the fenestration area to reinforce it without leaving ragged edges open.
But, curiosity aroused, I have just been to look at a couple of fenestrated ones which we got as promotional freebies a long time ago. In both cases: it seems the hole has been cut very carefully, with sharp square corners. Cuts must have been made to allow a hem to be turned back, but very neatly indeed. Then, and this must be very important I think, the line of machine stitching goes round the corner without interruption. The other important thing is that a patch has been applied in that area so that it is actually a double layer of material that is being fenestrated. The two edges are of course turned in toward each other so that the edge of the hole is actually four layers of fabric.

Without these two features of construction I am sure that the corners would become ragged and torn in no time.

But I didn't do needlework at school, so I can't be sure. I wish my mother were around to ask.

Re: Surgical drapes?

I hate paper drapes and find no great bother in the use of cloths. I dread to think the actual cost per drape in cleaning, removing hair and re-sterilisation.

The best ones I have found are the IMS ones paper underneath that absorbs blood or fluids with plastic top to prevent strike-through.

You can cut them to any size you want. If draping something 'awkward' like a leg cut the hole undersized and pull on to fit - the hole stretches.

The only re-suable drape we still have is the drill shroud for ortho.

They will send you free samples on request
