My position in the practice is as a recurrent locum vet.
Lurking on a rabbit forum, I have noticed

Re: Kennel assistant posting on internet forum

[quote user="An On MRCVS"]

Chas & Dave springs to mind when 'rabbit' and 'forum' appear in the same sentence!

Re: Kennel assistant posting on internet forum

Thanks for the reassurance all! As I won't be working alongside her this week, I sent her a message via the same forum, and within 10 minutes she had taken down the posts, and then sent me a reply saying she realised it was a stupid thing to do and saying thankyou for giving her the chance to put it right. I am glad, I was concerned that she could get all defensive.

I'll follow your suggestions and try to get her to discuss the issues with the senior staff - although she is nervous of this, being new to the practice and ''lower'' than the others (in her words!).

Anyway, initial conflict resolved and disaster averted! And now I have a log-in on a rabbit forum.

Also make sure she raises concerns with her senior who SHOULD be delighted to let her be involved in resolving them!

You maybe need to satisfy yourself about the basis (if any) of her concerns though.......

Re: Kennel assistant posting on internet forum

Well done, you; many people would have just steamrollered in and cost this young lady her job. If you feel that her general approach is sound, and that this is an opportunity for learning, have a quiet word. Explain what the problems are with what she's posted - and also the consequences of her bosses finding out. Many young nurses need a bit of guidance relating to confidentiality and the use of social networks.

Equally, might be a good opening for you to inject a bit of enlightenment into the practice - and bring the young lady in on it, to give her a little responsibility within the working team. This could work out quite well for her.
