Update. A couple of people have contacted me, and I have also heard that a number of registrants for the webinar have asked whether there will be further opportunities to question candidates, so I AM going to update the tab to Election 2013, and invite the candidates to join us on VetSurgeon.org.

I'm going to follow the webinar tomorrow evening, and then well open the forum shortly thereafter.

Sorry, meant to reply to this earlier.

I haven't actually organised anything specifically this year. I kind of felt that we should by now have reached a point when candidates know that the forum exists, and shouldn't really need chivvying along to come and solicit your votes.

I mean, we've got over 9000 members now and whilst the number that actually post in a forum is always a relatively small fraction of the total members, the number of visitors and page impressions is very, very high (more than 700 visits per day on average and 2M page views over the course of the last year). Our email open rates are frankly astounding (the newsletter usually records 40%+ opens, which is at the top end of what is technically possible to record).

So I would have thought it is a bit of a no-brainer to use this forum, and perhaps more interesting this year to see whether anyone does it without me having to twist arms (some more than others).

But maybe that's unfair. What do you think? If you'd like, I'll run another forum this year, and go and invite the candidates to come and say hello.

I am sure there will be specific threads regarding candidates manifestos but one individual has just lost my vote!

What would be really interesting is then comparing the elected representatives on council, to the analysis from the nominated members on council. I wonder how they will differ?

I guess you can try to assess this a little in the hustings. When will the questions for that open? can we see a selection of the questions that other people are putting forward? Is the forum for election 2013 going to open on vetsurgeon.org?

Must admit, when I first skim read this, I thought that this must be another wind-up (I hadn't previously heard of a PEST analysis).

I think it's a fantastic idea. Not just because it sounds like a good way to assess the candidates, but also because the RCVS / profession might get something from the analyses.
