Incidentally, I the problem is unique to banners made with particular software called Flash. The Drontal one has been made with Flash, the Petplan one hasn't. So the temporary workaround is to refresh the page till Petplan shows, then use the menu.

Thank you so much for that, I am ed. That certainly should not happen, and I have never seen it before. I think I have an idea what the problem might be, and need to consult with techies.

This screen shot demonstrates the issue. You hover over the menu you want, it drops down, then the drontal advert updates over the top of the menu and obscures it. This is on Chrome. The work around is to refresh and hope you get the petplan advert instead!

I've not had any problems using Chrome/Firefox on XP, Windows server 2003 or Windows 7

To be fair, the advertising revenue is often the only thing that keeps some website afloat. If I visit a site which I have found useful, I will always click on a couple of links as a thank you. This thread has actually reminded me that I haven't clicked for ages on anything on VS, I visit so often I have been taking it for granted! So, have a few clicks on me today Arlo, thanks for all your hard work!

TBH I thought 'most' people used Ad blocking software. I would never click a link. If I see something of interest I will go and google it.

I don't respond to the HMRC or internet bank emails asking for my details either.

I saw it all as a continuum.

Edit - interestingly if I view the page with Firefox and hover the cursor over the toolbar, the drop down menu is fine, but the Drontal banner diappears completely

Hi Martin, when we are running more than one advert in that area, they alternate as you refresh the page, or move to another page.

Easiest way to screengrab is position the mouse where it causes the problem, then press 'Alt' and 'PrtScn' buttons on your keyboard. Then go to email program, start new email addressed to arlo@guth3.net, then place cursor in the body of the email, right mouse click and select 'paste'.

That should paste the image of your browser window into the email, showing what it looked like when you pressed Alt Prtscn buttons

Update it's reappeared since I wrote the above - I can't send a screen grab as a) I'm a technophobe and I don't know how to and b) if I move the cursor away it disappears again

And in case Drontal is watching, I have become an avid prescriber of this fine drug entirely through exposure to advertising on this site.

I go on a number of forums (fora?) and this one has, by some distance, the least annoying advertising. It's also the first place I tend to find out about new releases and developments - including the name change for FAB ()

OK - I need to look at this in more detail. That is not supposed to happen.

Different systems render web pages in different ways, and whilst we try and test most scenarios, obviously this one has slipped through the net! Can you tell me exactly what computer setup you have (windows / mac, which version, and which browser / browser version). Thank you in advance :)

Not a problem on my PC but I am using Chrome not Firefox.
