We are however thinking of moving to a easy clean/medically type (Magnolia) paint, especially for the surgical areas so we do not have to paint as often.
Painters are doing a lot of fence sitting when I ask them which paint. No sitting on the fence in this forum :-)

The biggest problem is not choosing what paint or colour, it is the logistics of doing it and carrying on working, hence mine is long overdue a lick of of paint, I look at it and think about it but decide to procrastinate a bit longer so I'm glad I'm not the only one.. But as it is probably 7-8 years since it was done and it is apart from a few superficial marks still quite serviceable this is probably a tribute to eggshell and yes, although the op theatre is white everywhere else is magnolia...aargh!! All said I had the opportunity to specify the finish in a brand new conversion I was planning on occupying until I fell out with the landlord and someone else took over the project and I specified spray-on speckled acrylic paint. That IMO is the ideal but I don't know how easy it would be to go on over existing paint in a furnished room. Meanwhile if someone knows a decorator who is prepared to work piecemeal at no extra charge over weekends in the West London area, let me know.

Re: Op Room Paint

Eggshell

Re: Op Room Paint

A paint designed specifically for bathrooms and kitchens seem very tough. It is available as magnolia or can be mixed in the same way as emulsions. It has a shine but not particularly glossy.

It is quite smelly when it first goes on but not as bad as the older eggshells. It is oil based and probably kills the environment but it is extremely hard wearing and easy to clean.

Our operating theatre was done about 10 years ago and with the exception of all the areas where things have been mounted and taken off the wall it is almost perfect. 10 years of moving things about does leave things in a mess!

Long overdue but as it is still 'OK' it keeps getting pushed down the priority list!
