You can send them, I don't charge for film interpretation for vets, but I'm on study leave for until the end of the month so posted films won't get a quick response. If you can get better pics on a digital camera then email them to me (mariek@manorvets.com) then I can access the emailed images and get back to you faster. Or post them on here.

Marie

p.s. I'm used to some very random spellings, yours was fairly mild ;)

Re: 12 year old Conure radiology

[quote user="Michael Woodhouse"]

I know. I couldnt quite believe it. The owner is lovely though, and has been through so much and I so want to fix his Conure! He is severely disabled, but very nice, and has recently lost his wife (in her forties) so my heart really goes out to the guy.

Re: 12 year old Conure radiology

Thanks Marie (Sorry about the misspelling of your name in OP!)

The conure is very underweight weighing only 176g. Really sorry about the rads- I took the pics on my phone, but I will try and repost by using bigger pictures. I would love to send the real rads (films not digital yet..) to you for 2nd opinion. How much would you charge for looking at them?? Feel free to email me on emily@herskind.co.uk

Thank you!

can't say much on the rads - they are very small images and when I zoom in they just pixellate and blur. There appears to be a hepatomegaly on the VD views but I really can't see much detail I'm afraid - are you able to post the originals?

Unfortunately being clingy is a very vague sign too, may be sick/hormonal/heavy moult effect. I tend to bleed small birds from the right jugular - much easier to find and sample from in the featherless tract than using the superficial ulnar vein. The SUV should still have been accessible and clearly visible in a conure so the very small size would suggest this is a dehydrated/sick bird rather than being clingy due to behavioural/hormonal stimuli.
