Osirix will also acts as a dicom storage node (ie PACS) so you can send from your imaging modality to it. The instructions are on the website and it is very simple. Turn on the server mode, name the AE title and note the port address and IP address. Job done.

We archive our ultrasound images to it as well as import photographs.

Very easy to then setup all the macs in the building to have access to the images.

Yeah, this is not a question about a viewer for DICOM files, nor is it a question about a PACS system in toto. When our ultrasound is setup on a network the configuration requires three parameters, the IP address of the PC with the server software, the port address the server software is using and the the AE (Application Entity) TITLE of the server. The ultrasound machine becomes a DICOM node on the server.

Another way of cracking this may be to use a PACS, but I'm loathe to pay for it...we simply don't have a large enough volume of images.

Nope. The Fuji software we have is really nice to use but it is more designed to work on a hospital linked system.

I have not found software that I like - it is all too complicated and a pain for what we need. I have one called ImageJ which seems less cumbersome.

PC or mac? I think there's a good free dicom software program for mac that an imaging specialist I know uses, could find out for you if mac software? Most clinics are PC based, we use efilm that does everything, but don't think that's free. Is downloadable through www.soundelkin.com, can apparently network a scanner with Ethernet output directly and handles digital x-ray too.
